It is reported that, during the 2021 World Intelligent Manufacturing Summit, a series of events will be held, including opening and closing ceremonies, parallel forums, an online expo, and the inaugural Intelligent Manufacturing Innovation Competition. These activities will bring together leading global enterprises in intelligent manufacturing, authoritative institutions, distinguished leaders, and renowned experts to jointly examine and discuss the current state of development and pressing issues in the field, with a particular focus on showcasing the technologies, products, and solutions of the world’s most representative companies in intelligent manufacturing.

Since 2016, the World Intelligent Manufacturing Summit has entered its sixth year, steadily evolving into a key platform for international exchange and cooperation, industry trend dissemination, technology–product matchmaking, industrial development and investment, and the gathering of high‑end talent in the global intelligent manufacturing sector.

At the opening ceremony, a series of landmark achievements were unveiled. The National Expert Committee on Intelligent Manufacturing held its inauguration ceremony and presented certificates to its members. According to reports, the committee comprises 100 experts, including 21 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The event also featured the awards presentation for the inaugural Intelligent Manufacturing Innovation Competition. It was noted that the competition attracted nearly a thousand teams, with close to 600 innovative intelligent manufacturing projects submitted, ultimately resulting in 30 winning teams.

At the event, the most closely watched highlights were the announcements of the “Top Ten Technological Advances in Global Intelligent Manufacturing 2021” and the “Top Ten Technological Advances in China’s Intelligent Manufacturing 2021.” These represent the latest technological breakthroughs in intelligent manufacturing, both in China and worldwide.

In addition, the opening ceremony featured the announcement of the fifth batch of benchmark enterprises in intelligent manufacturing, the launch of the National Intelligent Manufacturing Public Service Network, and the establishment of the Chinese Expert Committee of the International Electrotechnical Commission’s Systems Committee on Intelligent Manufacturing. Notably, the National Intelligent Manufacturing Public Service Network, aligned with the four major task frameworks—innovation, application, supply, and support—outlined in the 14th Five-Year Plan, centers on an intelligent manufacturing data‑resource public service platform. By developing six functional modules—policy services, capability provision, regional development, project management, industrial services, and ecosystem resources—it provides a nationwide overview of the intelligent manufacturing industry’s dynamics, supports evidence‑based government policymaking, fosters efficient coordination of industrial resources, empowers technological innovation across vertical sectors, and drives the cultivation of integrated ecosystems.

Against the backdrop of epidemic prevention and control, this year’s conference is being held in a hybrid online–offline format. At the opening ceremony, the “Cloud Expo” made a striking debut, featuring three major exhibition zones—application demonstrations, technical services, and industrial ecosystem—aiming to create a “Cloud Expo” that never closes.

It is reported that the Cloud Expo comprehensively showcases enterprises, products, talent, technological achievements, solutions, and application scenarios in the smart manufacturing sector through 3D virtual panoramic booths, exhibits and case studies, as well as text, images, and videos. The event aims to build a cloud-based smart manufacturing ecosystem, establish a mechanism for precise supply‑demand matching, and create an integrated platform for the presentation and trading of smart manufacturing technologies, equipment, and outcomes.
